St. Mary Magdalene (SMM) is a community in Manor, Texas (Northeast Austin, Texas area) that is a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas (www.epicenter.org), the Episcopal Church (www.episcopalchurch.org), and the Anglican Communion (www.anglicancommunion.org)

SMM aspires to be a multiethnic, multigenerational community, that is being transformed by God's generosity, and is inspired to share this generosity with others.

Santa María Magdalena (SMM) es una comunidad en Manor, Texas (el área noreste de Austin, Texas) la cual es miembra de la Diócesis Episcopal de Texas (www.epicenter.org), la Iglesia Episcopal (www.episcopalchurch.org), y la Comunión Anglicana (www.anglicancommunion.org).

Somos SMM

• Our services are in English and Spanish. Although English is used primarily, the music, prayers, scripture readings, sermon, etc., have aspects of both English and Spanish.
• The atmosphere of our services is casual and people dress in what is comfortable to them.
• All baptized Christians (adults and children) are welcome to participate in the sacrament of the Holy Communion (also known as the Holy Eucharist or the Lord's Supper) no matter what their church affiliation may be.
• In non-pandemic times, we eat after our Sunday services on the first and third Sundays of the month. Meals are prepared by different people from the community, and we have come to appreciate the time we get to spend getting to know each other. All are invited and welcome to stay to eat and chat.
• The majority of those who attend regularly and have become part of the SMM community either did not attend church services before or had stopped attending a long time ago.
• We have a mixture of people that are English speakers, Spanish speakers, bilingual, from different parts of the United States, Mexico, and Latin America.

All are Welcome, no matter where you are, to join in this journey of "Experiencing & Sharing God's Generosity."

• Nuestros servicios son en inglés y español. Aunque el inglés se utilizan principalmente, la música, oraciones, lecturas bíblicas, sermón, etc., tienen aspectos de inglés y español.
• El ambiente de nuestros servicios es informal y la gente se viste en lo que es cómodo para ellos.
• Todos los cristianos bautizados (adultos, niñas y niños) están invitados a participar en el sacramento de la Santa Comunión (también conocida como la Santa Eucaristía o La Santa Cena) sin importar cuál sea su afiliación de iglesia.
• En épocas no pandémicas, comemos después de nuestros servicios el primer y tercer domingo del mes. Las comidas son preparadas por diferentes personas de la comunidad, y hemos llegado a apreciar el tiempo que dedicamos a conocernos más unos a otros. Todos están invitados y bienvenidos a quedarse a comer y charlar.
• La mayoría de quienes asisten regularmente y que han formado parte de la comunidad de SMM, no asistían a una iglesia antes o habían dejado de asistir hace mucho tiempo.
• Tenemos una mezcla de personas que son angloparlantes, hispanohablantes, bilingües, de diferentes partes de los Estados Unidos, México y América Latina.

Todos son Bienvenidos, sin importar donde se encuentre, a unirse en este caminar de "Vivir y Compartir la Generosidad de Dios."

SMM began in the living room of the home of the founding pastor, The Rev. Alex Montes-Vela, with five people in early 2010 with the vision that this new community would resemble the diversity of its surrounding community: a multiethnic community. From the start, SMM experimented with having our church services bilingually, in English and Spanish (which became the norm) in order to create an environment where people, regardless of their language, could worship and live life together. We moved our Sunday gatherings/services to the Manor High School cafeteria in the late summer of 2010, having our Formal Public Launch on Sunday, September 12, 2010.

After gathering at the Manor High School cafeteria (as well as surrounding parks, and the Manor Lions Club hall) for four and a half years, on December 18, 2014, the SMM community moved to its "new" home, on the "hill," 12800 Lexington Street, Manor, Texas 78653 [map], the church with the "red" doors.

SMM comenzó en la sala de la casa del pastor fundador, el Rev. Alex Montes-Vela, con cinco personas a principios de 2010 con la visión de que esta nueva comunidad se asemejaría a la diversidad de la comunidad circundante: una comunidad multiétnica. Desde el principio, SMM experimentó con llevar a cabo nuestros servicios de forma bilingüe, en inglés y español (que se convirtió en la norma) para crear una ambiente en la que las personas, independientemente de su idioma, pudieran adorar y vivir la vida juntas. Trasladamos nuestros servicios de los domingos al comedor (cafetería) de la Manor High School a finales del verano del 2010, y tuvimos nuestra Lanzamiento Público Formal el domingo, 12 de septiembre del 2010.

Después de habernos reunirnos por cuatro años y medio en la cafeteria de Manor High School (así como en los parques del área, y el salón del Club de los Leones), el 18 de diciembre del 2014, la comunidad de SMM se mudó a su "nuevo" hogar en la "colina", 12800 Lexington Street, Manor, Texas 78653 [mapa], la iglesia con las puertas "rojas."
